A.    CONSULTANCY & TRAINING

This is another department manned by Agricultural Engineers, Irrigation Engineers, Water Engineers, Agronomists and Agribusiness specialists. It plays key role in combining the initial and last stages of any Irrigation project. These specialists study the suitability of any project in regard to the soils, acreage, water, crops and economic viability and advice clients accordingly. In this, they work in tandem with the Design department to come up with the estimated cost of the project, bill of quantities, quality of materials, Irrigation water needs, Crop water requirements, Irrigation scheduling and programming in addition to soil erosion control and conservation methods, crop rotation and soil fertility maintenance. This department trains the personnel from the managers to the farmers on all aspects of Irrigation equipment maintenance, Irrigation scheduling and operation, soil moisture content maintenance and the essence of crop rotation. This kind of training is very essential to ensure that project beneficiaries own up the project, learn and muster how to operate and maintain the same project and can at the same time adopt a business view and profit perspective to the projects.

B.    DESIGN

This department is manned by highly qualified design and Irrigation Engineers. This unit is the most important in our projects handling. It deals with project conception, farm surveys, topographic surveys, and map digitalization, production of bill of quantities, eventual design and supervision of the project execution.

It is fully equipped with modern hardware and software which ensures that the projects are always executed as per design plan without hitches or alterations.

C.    MAINTENANCE AND SERVICING

Our experience shows that very huge noble Irrigation projects have been abandoned and lie in waste all over Africa after consuming millions of dollars because of two issues :

|    Local ownership of the project – in cases where the intended beneficiaries felt that the project belonged to the government
and the donors concerned and they (beneficiaries) are just being forced to accept it (project).

Lack of spare parts and maintenance of the equipment – simple and cheap spare parts coupled with training of local users on
the same have rendered otherwise expensive and useful projects into white elephants.

To address these, our maintenance department always ensure that we do a follow-up for all our projects and that servicing is done on quarterly basis. This ensures that the projects function
.
